This Level II class is designed for not-absolutely-beginner and intermediate artists to learn watercolor painting from a professional instructor. Interpreting what we think and see with lines, colors, shapes, and textures is satisfying and gives us fresh perspectives on how we paint. We will explore some concepts and techniques and create patterns from what we observe in nature!
Bring your own watercolor paints, a good selection of round, flat, liner brushes, watercolor paper, 2 containers for water, some sort of pan for mixing, a pencil and eraser. You may also want to bring fine line markers and opaque pens.

We will learn a variety of essential brushstrokes as well as brush holding position and loading paint properly to achieve different effects. After practicing these skills, we will put what we are learning together into a floral arrangement.
Watercolors, two water containers, pencil and eraser, watercolor paper your choice, but 100 cotton is recommended. Bring a selection of brushes, including several round and flat brushes, and a liner.

A perfect FIRST CLASS, this beginner-oriented opportunity explores some of the enormous assortment of supplies that are marketed to watercolorists. Paper. Paints. Brushes. How many colors ARE there? How much do I need to spend? How fancy or professional does it need to be? The beginning of our time together will involve explanation of different materials that are available and how to understand what is distinct about them. After this introduction, you will have the opportunity to use samples of a variety of materials from economy to what can be used professionally. I'll provide examples of moths and butterflies as subjects for you to work from. From this experience, you should walk away with not only an understanding of the materials, but a personal opinion on how they perform for you. You should not need any materials for the class, but are welcome to bring them.
